Licensed Braid Specialist, Karyne Tinord of Kay de Trés, will lead a live painless cornrow braiding demo and conversation surrounding the evolution of hairstyles during the rise in Hip Hop. Guests are also welcome to enjoy Karyne’s Famous Homemade Cornbread.
Karyne Tinord is a Licensed Cosmetologist, who retired from Painless hair braiding in 2021 to pursue her artistic gifts and teaching others how to braid using her techniques. In 2019, she mastered the art of turning hair into wearable art, with early beginnings in this artform starting in 2014. She now has over 40 pieces of wearable hair art pieces on display in her Gallery Kay de Trés (House of Braids) at NYBeauty Suites 81 Willoughby Street, Brooklyn NY 11201 suite B11A.

Our products are made with plant-based ingredients that feed and nourish your skin. Our products are used to help people overcome issues of the hair, and skin. We use our products to encourage you to self care and love yourself so that you can share love with others. We also cater to the vegan community by offering plant based products that will fit any vegan lifestyle.
Our SelfCare Saturday workshop will pay homage to the great madam CJ Walker who created “Madam Walker’s wonderful hair grower” She is the first female self-made millionaire in America. During this DIY workshop you will get the opportunity to mix your own hair serum or curate your own body butter.

Join us at McNally Jackson Downtown Brooklyn for a special Sunday Storytime, as we gather to read books that celebrate Black art and creativity!
You can join us here every week for Storytime, on Sundays at 1pm, Wednesdays at 4pm, and Thursdays at 4pm. We'll read fantastic new books together and kids can reconnect with their favorites. Great for kids 4 to 8, but all ages are welcome. We look forward to seeing you! No RSVP required.
